Claorova builds online courses and the technology that delivers them. That covers three related things: designing a course for asynchronous delivery, building it inside a learning management system you already use, and building a custom learning platform when an existing system genuinely cannot do what you need.
The combination is the reason to work with us on this. Most curriculum firms hand you a design and leave the build to somebody else, and most software firms build a platform without knowing what makes a course teach. Custom software is our main line of work, so the same team does both and the handoff between them does not exist.
How is designing for asynchronous different from filming a class?
Fundamentally, and this is the most expensive mistake in online course production. A recorded lecture is a live course with the teaching removed. What made the live version work was the instructor noticing confusion and responding to it, and that is exactly the part that does not survive the recording.
Asynchronous design has to replace that feedback loop with structure. That means segmenting into short pieces with a specific job each, building a check after every meaningful concept so the learner discovers confusion immediately instead of three modules later, writing out the worked examples an instructor would have improvised at the board, and anticipating the questions that would have been asked and answering them in the material.
It also means designing for the actual conditions: a learner alone, often tired, often on a phone, with no social pressure to continue. Completion is a design problem, not a motivation problem.
Which learning platforms do you build in?
For institutions we build in the LMS you already have, most commonly Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, or Google Classroom. For commercial and training courses we work with platforms like Thinkific, Teachable, and LearnDash. Building inside your existing system is almost always the right answer and we will push you toward it.
A custom platform is worth it in a narrow set of cases: when you need a specific interaction an LMS cannot host, such as a live simulator or an autograded technical environment, when the learner experience is your product and a generic platform undermines it, or when your data, integration, or privacy requirements genuinely exceed what the platform allows.
If none of those apply, a custom platform is an expensive way to get a worse LMS, and we will tell you that before quoting one.
What can you build that an off the shelf platform cannot?
This is where the software side does the work. The pieces clients most often need and cannot buy include the following.
- Autograders for code, calculations, or structured technical work, with feedback that identifies the specific error rather than just marking it wrong.
- Interactive simulations and visualizations for concepts that are hard to see, particularly in physics, engineering, and statistics.
- Adaptive practice that routes a learner to the right next problem based on what they have actually gotten wrong.
- Instructor dashboards showing where a cohort is stuck, which is the single most requested thing that standard LMS reporting does not do well.
- Integrations with student information systems, single sign-on, and rostering so the course does not create a second administrative burden.
- Custom assessment types that a standard quiz engine cannot represent.
Do you produce the video and media?
We produce the material that carries the instruction: slides, graphics, diagrams, animations of processes, screencasts and software walkthroughs, and the scripts behind them. On-site photography and video production is a service we offer through our brand and web practice, so a full production is possible as a combined scope.
We will also tell you when video is the wrong medium, which is more often than most course budgets assume. A well built interactive walkthrough or a clean written explanation with a worked example frequently teaches a procedure better than a video of someone doing it, and it is far cheaper to update when the procedure changes.
How do you handle accessibility for online courses?
Designed in from the start, because retrofitting accessibility into a finished course is expensive and produces a worse result than building it correctly.
That means semantic structure and real headings rather than styled text, alternative text for anything carrying meaning, captions and transcripts for audio and video, sufficient color contrast, full keyboard operability for interactive elements, and no information conveyed by color alone. For custom platform work we build and test against WCAG criteria as part of the build rather than as a final audit.
For institutions with a formal accessibility requirement, tell us the standard you are held to and we will build to it and document the conformance work.
Can you migrate an existing course online?
Yes, and it is a common project. The honest version is that it is a redesign rather than a transfer. Material that worked in a room does not work unattended, for the reasons above, and a migration that just uploads the existing files produces a course with a completion problem.
Our migration scope covers auditing what exists, identifying which parts depend on a live instructor, rebuilding those parts for asynchronous delivery, adding the checks and worked examples that replace real-time feedback, and then building it into the platform. We will tell you honestly which of your existing materials transfer as they are, because plenty of them usually do.

Do we own the course and the platform at the end?
Yes. Course materials are delivered in editable formats and you own them. For custom platform work you own the code and it is deployed to infrastructure in your name, so you are never locked into us to keep it running.
Can you integrate with our student information system and single sign-on?
Yes. Integration work is a standard part of our software practice, and SSO plus rostering is usually the difference between a platform people use and one that creates a second login nobody remembers.
How do you measure whether the online course is working?
By instrumenting it. Completion by module, where learners drop out, which checks are failed most, and time on task. That tells you which specific segment is broken, which is far more useful than an end of course satisfaction survey.
Can you build a course that sells to the public, not just an internal one?
Yes. That scope usually includes the payment and enrollment flow, the marketing site, and the brand, all of which we build as our main business. It becomes one project rather than three vendors.
What if we only need the platform and we write the content?
That is a straightforward software project and we are happy to take it. We would still ask to see the course design first, because platform decisions that look neutral often constrain the teaching in ways that are expensive to undo later.
